How Karnataka got the Flag?
Initially this flag was created for a political party called “Kannada Paksha” by M.Ramamurthy in 1965, In later stage this party was not able to make success as the founder M.Ramamurthy died along with his two sons near kanakapura in Bangalore district when they were digging a well in his farm.
Even though his party was not able to make success but the flag which he had adopted for his party later turned into Kannada Flag.
This flag is hoisted on November 1st on the occasion of Kannada/Karnataka Rajyotsava, which is a state holiday, in every public institutions and educational institutions and after hoisting the flag state anthem 'Jaya Bharata Jananiya Tanujate' is sung.
The Kannada flag can be seen along with Indian flag on government buildings in Karnataka fluttering at a height lower than that of Indian flag. There is no government order elevating it to official status. But the emotional binding and respect for the Kannada flag is as intense as that for the national flag.
